Briar Cliff track and field competed in the Concordia Classic Friday evening in Seward, Nebraska.
Ryan Kotey had the best individual day for the Chargers with first and second-place finishes.

Kotey hit the 'B' standard in the 200-meter dash and was the first to cross the finish line with his time of 22.35. He then took runner-up in the 60m dash in 7.03 seconds.Â

Wilton George finished second in the 60-mter hurdles with a time of 8.13, which is just .02 seconds off his personal best time he set last weekend. In the 800m,
Robert Amaro's time of 2:01.62 was good for a fifth-place finish.

Dominic Archer finished in ninth in the 200m in 23.24, while teammate
Tulsa Janish finished in 23.32.
Osiel Ochoa just missed a top-10 finish, placing 11th in the 400m with a time of 53.04. Deondre Rice took ninth place in the triple jump with his leap of 11.98m.Â

On the women's side, the Chargers got a pair of third-place finishes from
Hope Wagner and
Isabel Sayler. Wagner recorded a shot put of 13.11m, while Sayler set a new personal best in the triple jump with her leap of 10.78m.

Kiana Vereen also set a personal best in the 200m dash finishing in 27.15, good for seventh place. She also took an eighth-place finish in the 400m with a time of 1:04.51.

"Overall, it wasn't our best meet, but we had some really good things happen," said head coach
Scott Barnes. "Kotey won the 200, and Sayler set a new PR in the triple jump. We have some healing up to do before conference in a few weeks."

The Chargers now look ahead to the Mount Marty Last Chance meet next Saturday in Yankton, South Dakota.
