Briar Cliff football traveled to Fremont, Nebraska Saturday and dropped a 59-7 contest against Midland. BC moves to 1-5 and 1-4 in the GPAC while Midland improves to 4-3 and 4-2 in the conference.
"We lost to a quality football team that outplayed and out coached us in all 3 phases," said head coach
Shane LaDage. " I do appreciate how hard our young men played for all four quarters, but we must get better with our execution."
A big first quarter from Midland set the tone for the afternoon, as they put up 21 unanswered points in the opening 15 minutes. The Charger defense regrouped in the second half, holding the Warriors to zero points. Briar Cliff drove the ball down the field in the second quarter, going 79 yards on 17 plays and taking 8:19 off the game clock, but failed to reach the endzone on fourth and goal from the one yard line.

Luke Davies competed 12 of 25 pass attempts for 79 yards. Dawson Focella was the most productive running back with 68 yards on 21 carries. Brown had 61 receiving yards on five catches and
Spencer Sylvester George added 24 yards.
Brayden Pommier-Williams totaled 10 tackles (four solo) and two tackles for a loss.
Brett Tinker added nine tackles and
Kadeem Muhammad had eight.

Midland found success with the ground game, racking up 380 rushing yards on 46 attempts for an average of 8.3 yards. Katon Thomas rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown, while Andrew Miller carried the ball 14 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns. The Warrior defense totaled four sacks, 7.5 tackles for a loss and one interception.
The Blue and Gold return to Memorial Field next Saturday, hosting #3 Morningside for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
