Box Score The Charger women's soccer team defeated the William Penn Statesmen 3-1 in Oskaloosa, Iowa Tuesday evening.
Ellen Lofsjogard put the Chargers on the board in the 27th minute, scoring off an assist from Angelina Saade to give BCU a 1-0 lead.
Isabela Camacho put the Chargers up 2-0 in the 43rd minute, again assisted by Saade, to give BCU the advantage heading into halftime.
Briar Cliff extended its lead in the 51st minute when Therese Molin found the back of the net off an assist from Alexis Vasquez, giving the Chargers a 3-0 lead.
William Penn cut into the deficit in the 65th minute with a goal from Rakiya Morgan-King, but the Charger defense held strong the rest of the way to secure the 3-1 victory.
The Chargers held a 10-8 advantage in shots, including a 5-4 edge in shots on target. Caitlin Anderholm recorded three saves in the match. Lofsjogard, Camacho and Molin each recorded a goal, while Saade tallied two assists. Vasquez added an assist for BCU.
Briar Cliff returns to action Sunday, August 30th, traveling to Fayette, Missouri to take on Central Methodist University. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
