The Charger Overwatch team dropped their match to Winthrop University, the eventual champions of the nationals bracket at the NACE Grand Finals.
Facing one of the tournament favorites in a GSL-style bracket, the Chargers knew an opening loss would not end their run. The team experimented with a new lineup to begin the match, as Esteban "B3nji" Alvarado subbed in for Kolby "Khatch" Hatch to run a Reaper composition. The strategy found brief success early but ultimately was not enough to secure the map. The Chargers fell to Winthrop in the opening match before a scheduled 30-minute break.
The Chargers returned to competition in their second match against Bellevue University, which had dropped its opening series to Cumberland. Bellevue, a familiar opponent the Chargers had previously defeated multiple times, proved difficult to overcome this time around. The Bruins secured a 3-0 series win, though several maps remained tightly contested throughout the match up.
Despite not securing a map victory during the weekend, the Chargers delivered several strong moments. Key power plays from Juan "Juvn" Villa and Amity "Amity" Crow energized the team and created opportunities to swing momentum late in multiple maps.
The Chargers' run concluded with a Top 8 finish at the NACE Nationals, marking another national-level appearance for the program.
