The Charger softball team have won four straight victories after sweeping College of Saint Mary 3-2 in game one and 11-0 in game two in Omaha, Nebraska.
Game 1 – W, 3-2
Trailing 2-0 after five innings, the Chargers broke through in the sixth with four hits.
Madi Keon led off with a single before advancing into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt.
Leah Montes followed with a base hit to put runners on the corners, and an RBI groundout by
Elizabeth Austin cut the deficit to one.
Sydney Ebel tied the game with an RBI double to left, and
Lauryn Mattox delivered the go-ahead run with another double to left-center, giving Briar Cliff a 3-2 lead.
College of Saint Mary struck first in the third inning when Amber Kosmicki launched a two-run home run to left-center.
Shelby Blankenship earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing two runs on six hits and striking out six. She worked out of multiple late threats, including a runner reaching base in the seventh, to seal the victory.
Briar Cliff finished with five hits, led by Mattox's two-hit, one-RBI performance. Ebel added a double and an RBI, while Montes and Keon each scored a run.
Kosmicki paced the Flames with two RBIs, while Kynzee McFadden recorded two hits.
Game 2 – W, 11-0 (5 Innings)
The Chargers wasted no time getting on the board, plating a run in the first before erupting for five runs in the second inning to take control. Briar Cliff added five more runs in the fifth to seal the run-rule victory.
A six-hit second inning powered the early surge.
Leah Montes and
Elizabeth Austin each delivered RBI doubles, while
Sydney Ebel capped the rally with an RBI triple.
Sydney Mennenga later added an RBI single as the Chargers built a 6-0 lead.
Briar Cliff continued to apply pressure in the fifth, highlighted by
Shelby Blankenship's two-RBI single and a two-run single from
Lauryn Mattox to extend the lead to 11-0.
Ebel led the Chargers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Blankenship also had a strong performance, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Austin added two hits and two RBIs, while Montes scored twice and drove in a run.

Aubrey White earned the win, tossing a complete-game shutout over five innings. She allowed just two hits while working around four walks and striking out two.
College of Saint Mary managed just two hits in the contest, with Ella Watts and Shaylynn Campbell accounting for both.
The Chargers improve to 16-24 (6-10 GPAC) and will return to Historic Hubbard Park Friday, to host the Doane Tigers. Game one is slated for 4 p.m. with game two following shortly after.
