The Briar Cliff wrestling team split its second set of GPAC Duals on Saturday afternoon in Crete, Nebraska, falling 36–9 to Doane before bouncing back with a 30–21 win over Midland later in the day.
"
Overall, today was an uneven performance. We had a few bright spots but we left a couple wins on the table. Trystan
and Evan stepped up big in their matches against Doane, while Dante, Logan, and Erik handled business against Midland. Now it's time to fine tune and be ready for the Conference Tournament and see who can punch their ticket to the Wichita in a couple weeks" said Head Coach Donaco Watts after the dual today.
BCU was open at 285 pounds in both duals.
Jarrod Gilliam got the Chargers on the board in the Doane match-up, earning a 5–2 decision over Anthony Harris at 133 pounds.
Evan Fuchs followed with a 12–9 decision at 141, and Tristen Berry added a 7–3 decision against Quentyn Frank.
Erik Lessears picked up another win for Briar Cliff at 174 pounds, securing an 8–4 decision over Evan Sepanlou.
In the dual against Midland,
Dante Rigal and
Logan Mainard set the tone early with back-to-back pins, combining for 12 team points. Lessears continued his strong day with a pin at 165 pounds to help lift the Chargers to the 30–21 victory.
