The Charger baseball team finished the weekend going 3-1 against Benedictine in Atchison, Kansas Saturday afternoon. The Chargers took both games of the doubleheader Saturday.
Game 1 – W, 6-4
Brock Saya pitched a complete game, allowing four runs scattered across four hits while recording nine strikeouts.
Conner Neubeck with one out in the top of the second reached scoring position after a double to the right center gap.
Greyson Kay recorded a RBI triple to card the game's first run.
Jake Christianson's RBI single on the following at-bat gave BC a 2-0 lead.
Kay again delivered for the Chargers in the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded and two outs, Kay gave the Chargers a 5-1 lead with a RBI single.
The Cliff added another run in the top of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead after scoring on a fielder's choice.
Nico Sall recorded two RBIs in the contest.
Game 2 - W,10-1
Sall got the Chargers on the board in the top of the first with a RBI single.
The Chargers in the top of the fourth scored seven runs to take a commanding 8-0 lead.
Caleb St. Cyr's RBI double followed up with
Damon Schmid scoring on a wild pitch shortly after started the scoring run.
Raenan Padilla and
Brody Nardini both recorded RBI walks. Kay posted a two RBI single while
Cael Walrod's sac fly capped off the scoring.
BC tacked on two more insurance runs in the top of the sixth.
The Charger pitching staff limited the Ravens to just five hits and one run in the contest.
Carter Schorg got the start at tossed three innings and allowed just three hits while recording three strikeouts.
Johnny Reed recorded two strikeouts in the two batters he faced while Logan Kragel closed the final inning with two strikeouts.
The Chargers will return to the Bishop Mueller Complex next Saturday and Sunday to host Bismarck State for a four-game series. Game one is slated for 2:00 p.m. with game two to follow shortly after.
