The Charger wrestling team competed in day one of the GPAC Wrestling Championships in Orange City, Iowa.
Erik Lessears in the 165-pound bracket defeated Wyatt Bice of Northwestern College with a 8-5 decision to advance to the semifinals.
Jeremiah Bethel in the 184-pound bracket went 2-0 on the day, defeating Thomas Vance of Northwestern with a 17-2 technical fall. He defeated Dakota Wesleyan's Jaxon Quail 4-1in a overtime victory.
In the 133-pound bracket,
Jarrod Gilliam took a 6-5 decision over
Dante Rigal to advance to the semifinal round.
Rigal in his first match in the consolation bracket defeated Ikuhaiakalani Akina of Waldorf by pin.
Brandon Harris at 157 dropped his first match of the day before winning by pin over Zion Amerson of Midland.
Jackson Balmer at 165 dropped a major decision match in his first bout before earning a pin over Ronald Hooten of Waldorf.
Parker Leverknight at 125 and
Trystan Berry at 149 will work their way through the consolation bracket after falling in the opening round.
