CHARGER WRESTLING COMPETE AT WORTHINGTON OPEN

The Charger wrestling team was in action Saturday, competing in the Worthington Open in Worthington, Minnesota.

"Today was definitely a mixed bag, especially since we only brought a few of our starters to the competition," said Head Coach Donaco Watts. "I feel that the guys wrestled hard and represented themselves well in a tournament with high conversations of JUCO and D-2 opponents."

Jackson Balmer in the 165-pound division finished fourth in the event after posting a 3-2 record on the day. Balmer opened the tournament with a 3-1 decision over Colten Gunderson of Augustana University. He received a forfeit win and a medical forfeit win in his next two bouts. His tournament run would end against Kaleb Lochner of Minnesota State.

Dante Rigal at 133 finished 3-2 on the day and capped his day off with a pin over Blake Eatman of Iowa Lakes Community College. He recorded three pins on the day, defeating Carson Nelson of Ridgewater College and Kale Cornell of St. Cloud State University.

Parker Leverknight began the day with a pin against Hunter Robbins at 125. He would drop a close 5-4 decision to Zach Morse of Northern State University.

The Chargers will return to action January 23-24, as they travel to Marhsall, Missouri to compete in the Missouri Valley Invite.
