The Charger football defeated the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers 21-7 on Memorial Field Saturday on Homecoming. The Cliff forced five turnovers in the contest.

Max Rascon Jr. got the Chargers on the board midway through the first quarter, recording a tackle-for-loss in the Tiger endzone to force a safety.

On the ensuing drive, the Chargers tacked on three more points courtesy of a Jacob Meyers' 30-yard field goal attempt to go up 5-0.

BCU on the kickoff forced a fumble and took over with the ball on the Dakota Wesleyan 20-yard line. On the third play of the drive,
Brock Saya connected with
Jayden Westbrook for a 21-yard touchdown pass. Meyers' PAT attempt was blocked, and the Chargers held a 11-0 lead.

With under a minute left, Saya threw an interception and the Tigers looked to score before the half.
Michael Casarez notched his first sack of the day on the next possession to force the Tigers to burn a timeout. On the following play he batted down a pass to make it third-and-17. The Cliff held the Tigers out of the endzone and took an 11-0 lead heading into the break.

In the third, the Tigers scored on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Jed Jensen to Caleb Killbride to cut the lead to one possession.

In the beginning of the fourth, Meyers 25-yard field goal gave BCU a 14-7 lead.

On the next drive,
Chase Brown recorded a strip sack and
Jesse Hastings scooped up the fumble to give BCU the ball at the Tigers' 18-yard line. The Chargers capitalized with Saya and Westbrook connecting for their second touchdown of the game, this time a 33-yard strike to take a 21-7 lead.

Saya finished the game going 16-for-31 passing for 269 yards.
Chase Thomas rushed for 63 yards on 21 carries. Westbrook finished with four catches for 88 yards while
Kymani Fleurme hauled in five catches for 82 yards.
Steven Whiting finished with four catches for 66 yards.

Rascon Jr. finished with 11 tackles including two tackles-for-loss and half-a-sack.
Michael Casarez recorded two sacks while
Joseph Casarez recorded 1.5 sacks.
Blake Hogancamp notched one while Ethan Dallan and
Phillip Benjamin recorded a half sack.

Kyle Gibson recorded eight tackles and forced two fumbles and recorded an interception.
Keivon Booker also recorded an interception in the contest.

The Chargers improve to 4-1 (3-1 GPAC) and will travel to Sioux Center, Iowa next Saturday to take on the Dordt Defenders. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
