The Charger men's soccer team defeated cross-town rival Morningside 2-0 Wednesday evening in Sioux City, Iowa.
Xabier Ilundain at keeper for the Chargers recorded 10 saves in the clean sheet.
Morningside pressed the attack in the early moments, being rewarded with two corner kicks in the first minute.
The Cliff scored in the 13
th minute, as
Giuseppe Marrix scored off an assist from
Aime Oettler. In the 37
th minute, the Chargers went up 2-0 after the Mustangs conceded an own goal.
The Mustangs held the advantage in shots with 22 to the Chargers five. Morningside also held the advantage in corner kicks 11-3.
Gabriel Hernandez Les and
Pablo Gonzalez each recorded a shot in the match.
The Chargers improve to 4-3-1 (1-0-1 GPAC) and will travel to Seward, Nebraska to take on the Concordia Bulldogs. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
