The Charger women's soccer team defeated the William Penn Statesman 2-0 in their home opener at Faber Field Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers put together their first clean sheet of the season as
Caitlin Anderholm made five saves in the match.
A goal by
Sierra Brooks in the 39
th minute gave BCU a early lead heading into the break. William Penn looked to respond shortly after, but the Chargers held as Anderholm made two saves during the stretch.
In the 75
th minute the Chargers added a brace, a goal from
Emma Blomberg off an assist from
Sadie Jones extended the lead.
The Statesman had two chances in the final moments but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities.
The Cliff move to 1-2 on the season and will return to Faber Field this Wednesday as they host the Eagles of Central Methodist. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
