Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Charger softball team split their doubleheader Saturday afternoon, defeating Graceland 18-2 before falling to Park University 3-7.
 
Game one vs Graceland – W, 18-2
 
Kylie Wilhelms launched two homers and led the team in RBIs with four in the contest and scored three runs in the 18-2 victory.
 
The Charger scored five runs in the first two innings, with Wilhelms recording her first home run in the opening frame.
 
The Chargers scored 10 runs in the top of the third, propelled by Wilhelms three-run shot. Briar Cliff led 15-2 heading into the fourth inning. Kaela Persico added to the Charger lead after she recorded a two-run home run.
 
Georgia Krohn got the win in the pitching circle, pitching three innings while recording five strikeouts and allowing just one earned run on two hits. Michaela Wright earns the save after pitching two scoreless innings and recording two strikeouts.
 
Game two vs Park – L, 3-7
With two outs in the first inning, the Pirates recorded two solo home runs to take a 2-0 lead early.

With two outs in the bottom of the second, Montie Richter drew a walk and Karina Cupples recorded a single to move a runner into scoring position. Richter advanced to third following a Pirate error. Cupples stole second, and during the play Richter crossed home plate to put the Chargers on the board.
 
Rylee Cain in the bottom of the fifth cut the Pirate lead to three after her RBI single drove in Cupples. Cain in the bottom of the seventh recorded a RBI double looking to spark a rally for the Chargers. The Pirates were able to record the final out to preserve the victory.
Cupples went a perfect three-for-three at the plate while Cain went two-for-two with a walk and two RBIs. Sydney Ebel went one-for-one and drew three walks in the contest.
 
The Chargers move to 4-6 on the season, and will return to action tomorrow in Shawnee, Kansas as they take on Benedictine and Baker. Game one is slated for 10 a.m. and the contest against Baker at 12 p.m.
