The Charger wrestling team opened their dual season in dominating fashion, defeating the visiting Buena Vista Beavers 36-10 inside the Newman Flanagan Center.
"I was pleased with our intensity and grit tonight," said Head Coach
Donaco Watts. There were a couple spots where we left a couple bonus points on the board, so we'll have to work on little details a bit more in those situations. From 184 up everyone was bumped up one or two weights, so extra kudos to the effort they put forth."
The Chargers were open at 125-pound match, but from that point on recorded six straight victories.
Dante Rigal kicked off the dual with a pin over in the first round.
Evan Fuchs followed with a pin and
Trystan Berry recorded a decision victory in the 149-bout.
Brandon Harris recorded a major decision victory in the following match while
Jackson Balmer won via pin.
Ethan Gregg won by technical fall while Jermiah Bethel won in a narrow 5-2 decision.
Charles Witas capped off the night with an overtime decision victory in the heavyweight match.
The Chargers move to 1-0 in duals and will host the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on November 11 inside the Newman Flanagan Center. First match is slated for 6p.m.
