The Briar Cliff football team fell 34-17 to RV Concordia University Saturday afternoon in Seward, Nebraska.
The Bulldogs built an early lead, taking a 17-3 advantage into halftime, but the Chargers responded with a strong fourth-quarter push, scoring two touchdowns in the final frame.
Quarterback
Brock Saya threw for 301 yards and a touchdown while completing 24 of 45 passes.
Steven Whiting added one passing touchdown and caught seven passes for 86 yards.
Ezra Heiner also had a productive outing, hauling in seven receptions for 79 yards and a score.
Chase Thomas led the rushing attack with 26 yards on 10 carries while adding 37 receiving yards.
Defensively,
Max Rascon Jr. paced the Chargers with 14 total tackles and an interception.
Dayton Harrell followed closely with 13 stops and a pass breakup, while
Chayce Montagne added 10 tackles and three pass breakups.
The Chargers move to 5-5 overall and 4-5 in GPAC play. They return to action next Saturday, traveling to Forest City, Iowa, to take on Waldorf. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
