The Charger men's soccer team dropped a tough contest on the road, falling 3-2 to the Hastings Broncos in Hastings, Nebraska.
The Broncos kicked off the scoring with a goal by Tim Berger in the third minute of the match. The Chargers looked to respond, but their first three shots could not find the back of the net.
In the 21
st minute,
David Utsi-Grinde scored off an assist from
Alex Johnson to tie the contest. Hastings would score shortly after to regain the one-goal lead.
Coming out of intermission,
David Sauter scored a goal in the 51
st minute to tie the match.
The Broncos' Tim Berger would complete the hat trick in the 69
th minute to score the deciding goal.
Sauter paced the Chargers in shots with five while
Alejandro Illan recorded three.
Xabier Ilundain recorded two saves in the match.
The Cliff move to 6-7-3 (3-4-2 GPAC) and will travel to Forest City, Iowa next Wednesday for the season finale against the Warriors of Waldorf. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
