The Charger men's basketball team were clipped by the 12
th ranked Dordt Defenders 98-67 in Sioux Center, Iowa, Wednesday evening.
The Defenders led 42-23 after the first half and shot 50% from the field in the half. The Chargers were within two points with 13:25 remaining in the contest before the Defenders went on a 14-3 run to build a 27-14 lead moments later.
Jaxson Wingert had a near double-double with 10 points and seven rebounds at the end of the first half. Wingert finished the game with 17 points and eight rebounds and tallied one steal.
Jamison Helmers finished with 12 points and knocked down a pair of threes in the contest.
Nick Schefers finished with 12 points and shot five-for-seven from the field.
The Defenders shot 57% from the field and scored 31 points off turnovers in the contest. The Chargers shot 41% from the field scored 34 points in the paint.
Briar Cliff moves to 11-9 (6-6 GPAC) and will return to the Newman Flanagan Center this Saturday to host the Midland Warriors. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
