The Charger softball team split day three of their spring break trip, taking down Graceland 5-2 before falling 14-5 to Ottawa (Arizona).

"Great win against Graceland this morning. We battled and plated 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth to keep us on a roll," said Head Coach TJ Eadus. "Ran into a wall the second game but we learned some lessons. Softball is a game of failure but we have to be resilient and come back tomorrow ready to go."

After giving up two runs in the top of the third, the Chargers went to work offensively, responding with a run following
Aubrey Chichurka's RBI-single to deep center field to drive in
Karis Gifford.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cliff offense erupted for four runs after Graceland made a pitching change. Gifford led off the inning with a single to center field and swiped second during
Karina Cupples plate appearance.
Kylee Lukes was able to reach base on the Bee's error, allowing Gifford to score. Chichurka the next at-bat singled to center field to put runners at the corners with one out.

Rylee Cain hit sacrifice-RBI back to the pitcher to card the Cliff's second run of the inning.
Kylie Wilhelms followed up with a RBI-single of her own, followed by
Kieya Belmont's RBI-walk to put the Cliff up 5-2.
Georgia Krohn came in relief for the final two innings to shut down Graceland's offense to preserve the win.

Grace Batcheller got the win in the pitching circle, allowing only two runs while striking out four. Yon went two-for-three at the plate while Chichurka went two-for-four at the dish.

Game 2 vs OUAZ, L 14-3

The Chargers got in scoring position out the gate, as Gifford led off with a single followed by Cupples reaching base on an error. Cupples would later steal second to put runners on second and third with no outs.
Kylee Lukes recorded a two RBI-double to plate the Cliff's first two runs across. Chichurka followed up with a RBI-single to put the Chargers up 3-0.

From then on, the Spirit scored 14 unearned runs to take control of the contest.

Lukes went two-for-three at the plate with two RBIs and scored a run.

The Cliff move to 8-6 on the season, and will return to action tomorrow as they take on Madonna at 12 p.m. followed by a contest against Waldorf at 4:30 p.m. in Arizona.
