The Charger baseball team split their doubleheader against the Broncos of Hastings Friday afternoon, falling in game one falling 4-3 in game one before taking a decisive game two 8-1.

Game 1 – L, 4-3

Cam Reimer got the Cliff on the board in the bottom of the second, as he launched a solo-blast over the left field wall to cut the lead 2-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Reimer and
Cade Marquardt drew back-to-back walks, but the Cliff ran into a jam after
Rance Bryant reached on a fielder's choice followed by
Jared Sitzmann's deep flyout.
Easton Cone was able to record a one-run single to deep center field to cut the lead down to two.

Diego Trujillo capped of the scoring for the Cliff, recording a sacrifice groundout to drive in
Matthew Hmielewski.

Despite the loss,
Kyler Steinborn pitched a complete game and recorded nine strikeouts.

Game 2 – W, 8-1

Carter Schorg was in complete control on the mound for the Cliff in game two, pitching seven innings while only giving up one run on three hits and recording strikeouts. Logan Barboa earned the save after recording four strikeouts in two innings of work.

Walker Moore went three-for-four with three RBIs in the contest.
Justin Remar who came in late to play third, belted a solo-blast over the left field wall in the contest.

The Cliff offense was rolling in the bottom of the fourth, carding four runs in the inning.

Damon Schmid went two-for-four in the contest with two RBIs and two runs scored in the contest.

The Chargers move to 7-11 on the season and will return to action next Tuesday as they take on the Bulldogs of Concordia on Sisters of St. Francis Field. Game one is slated for 1 p.m. with game two to follow shortly after.
