The Charger baseball team dropped their doubleheader against the #7 Bellevue Bruins Saturday afternoon 15-0 and 7-4 on Bishop Mueller Field.
Game 1 - L, 15-0

In game one, the Bruins took a commanding lead early, scoring five runs in the first four innings. The Chargers first base runner came in the bottom of the third, when
Damon Schmid drew a walk.

In the bottom of the fourth,
Walker Moore hit a one-out double to put a runner in scoring position. The Chargers were unable to capitalize and Moore was stranded at second base.

In the bottom of the fifth inning,
Jared Sitzmann led off with a single to right field, but the Bruins were able to retire the side to leave Sitzmann stranded on first.

Sitzmann was the teams DH for the contest, going two-for-three in the contest.
Game 2 - L,7-4

In game two, the Cliff got on the board in the bottom of the second, when
Easton Cone hit a two-out single to right field. Schmid the next at-bat doubled to right field, driving in Cone for the first run of the

The Bruins responded with a two-run blast from CJ Townsend to take a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, the Chargers'
Diego Trujillo doubled to right field with two outs to put a runner in scoring position.
Matthew Hmielewski singled to right field the next at-bat to drive in Trujillo. Hmielewski swiped second base the next at-bat, but was left stranded after
Easton Cone fell to a strikeout.

The Cliff took a one-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, as Moore's single to left field drove in Schmid. The Bruins in the top of the eighth the take a 4-3 lead. Briar Cliff's Cam Reimer the next half-inning belted a solo-blast to tie the ball game heading into the final inning.

A series of errors, led to the Bruins scoring three runs, and closed the door on a Charger rally in the ninth.

Schmid went three-for-four on the day with a RBI while Cone went two-for-four with a run.
Carter Schorg got the start on the bump for the Cliff, throwing six innings will only allowing two hits and two runs while recording five strikeouts.

The Cliff moves to 4-4 on the season, and will conclude their three-game series tomorrow, as they will play one nine-inning contest. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
