A strong first half start propelled the RV Charger women's basketball team to a 78-71 victory over the Tigers of Doane. Four Chargers scored in double figures in the contest. The Cliff have now won four straight.
 
Grace Flanagan off the bench scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the contest. Kennedy Benne added 16 points and grabbed four rebounds in the effort. Konnor Sudmann and Mallie McNair both chipped in 14 points in the contest.
 
The Tigers earned the first bucket of the contest, as Macy Holtz drilled an early three. The Chargers would score 10 unanswered points, powered by threes from Benne and McNair. With 3:45 remaining in the first quarter, McNair pushed the Charger lead to eight after knocking down a three-ball and a jumper. BCU took a 20-16 lead following a layup from Rachel Langel off an assist from Flanagan.
 
Late in the second quarter, Cadence Davis buried a three with 2:59 remaining to give Briar Cliff a 35-25 lead. Flanagan pushed the lead to 11 after a triple with 1:56 remaining.
 
The Tigers would not back down in the third, as they closed the gap to within one midway through the quarter after a Mak Hatcliff layup. Early in the fourth, Hatcliff tied the game 56-56 following a basket. The Chargers were in the bonus midway through the fourth quarter and were able to convert free throw attempts to prevent a Tiger comeback. The Chargers in the fourth quarter alone went 17-for-26 from the free throw line.
 
The Charger defense forced 24 turnovers in the contest and held the Tigers to 40% from the field.
 
The Chargers improve to 17-7 (12-6 GPAC) on the season, and will return to action next Wednesday, as they host the Red Raiders of Northwestern. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
