A go-ahead layup from Matthew Stillwill with seven seconds left in the contest propelled the Charger men's basketball team to a 74-72 victory over Park Gilbert in Gilbert, Arizona Friday evening.

Stilwill recorded a double-double with 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Stilwill scored 17 points in the first half.

In the first half,
Jamison Helmers was off to a strong start, scoring 13 points and went three-for-six from downtown in the half. With little under six minutes to play,
Blake Sindelar recorded a steal and Stilwill capitalized with an and-one play on the other end to give Briar Cliff a 33-24 lead late in the half.

A pair of free throws from Stilwill gave BCU a 43-36 lead heading into the break.

The Buccaneers started off the second half strong, working their way to a 57-53 lead following a Latrell Jones three. Stillwill with 2:53 remaining in the contest gave BCU a three-point lead late.

Aidan Moreno for the Buccaneers knocked down a jumper to tie the game with 47 seconds left. Following Stilwill's go-ahead bucket, the Chargers got the stop on the final possession to give Briar Cliff the victory.

Helmers added 16 points and knocked down four threes in the contest.
Ikenna Ude-Smith off the bench scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds while recording two blocks. Stilwill and Helmers both recorded three steals in the contest.
