The 17
th ranked Charger women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season to the 11
th ranked Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan 79-65 in Mitchell, South Dakota Tuesday evening.
In the effort,
Mallie McNair scored 32 points and knocked down four threes in the contest.
The Charger offense started off slow in the opening frame, shooting 35% from the field. Briar Cliff's shooting slumped continued into the second quarter and trailed by 21 heading into halftime.
BCU came out of intermission with a strong offensive output, outscoring the Tigers 30-18 to open the second half. Briar Cliff knocked down five threes in the contest and went 11-for-12 from the charity stripe in the quarter.
McNair scored 13 points in the third and went three-for-three from downtown.
Adrianna Webster chipped in six points while
Kennedy Benne added four.
Rylee Rosenquist led the Tigers with 26 points while Emma Yost added 22 points.
The Chargers move to 6-1 (3-1 GPAC) and will return to action next Monday, as they take on the Bellevue Bruins in Bellevue, Nebraska. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
