School Records Fall in Win over Warriors

E'mond Pittman matched Drew Prohaska's single game rushing touchdown record, scoring three times and rushed for 159 yards in the contest. Pittman got his first career start and made the most of his opportunity.
 
On the Chargers second drive of the contest, they went to Pittman early three straight carries for 33 yards. The drive would stall out as BCU fumbled in the redzone.
 
Early in the second quarter BCU took a 7-0 lead as Pittman found the endzone on a nine-yard rush.
 
Briar Cliff added a touchdown on the ensuing drive courtesy of Pittman to take a 14-0 lead.
 
After the two-minute timeout, the Chargers put together another scoring drive, quarterback Luke Davies three-for-three for 49-yards capped by a seven yards score to Cory Carignan.
 
The Warriors held all of the momentum in the early goings of the second half, taking a 28-21 lead with 7:33 remaining in the contest. On the kickoff, Carignan returned it to the Waldorf 15 to put BCU in scoring position.
 
A 14-yard reception from Kyle St. Pierre setup a one-yard plunge for  Pittman's second touchdown of the game.
 
The Charger defensive line broke the single game sack record with nine total sacks. On the ensuing drive, Alex Niederhauser and Carlos Lopez recorded sacks and forced a Waldorf three-and-out.
 
Waldorf got the ball back with 1:43 left on their own 20-yard line. Lake Martin strip sacked Chris Walter on the third play of the drive and recovered the ball to put BCU in the redzone late.
 
Davies hooked up with Luke DeLange for the go-ahead touchdown with 54-seconds left in regulation.
 
Tulsa Janish back from injury sealed the game after recording an interception on the ensuing drive.
 
Davies threw for 145 yards on 13-for-21 on the day. Carignan led the Charger receivers with 59 yards on six catches.
 
Alex Niederhauser and a career day with three sacks in the contest. Lopez had a team high 12 tackles with 2.5 sacks in the contest. Phillip Benjamin and Lakey Martin both recorded two.
 
Briar Cliff will look ahead to face the fourth ranked Dordt Defenders next Saturday at Memorial Field. The Chargers will honor their seniors prior to the contest.
