The #10 Chargers dropped their road contest against top ranked Dordt 94-78 Wednesday evening in Sioux Center, Iowa. A late in the first quarter by the Defenders propelled them to the win.

In the early going of the first quarter, both teams traded baskets until the Chargers
Kennedy Benne recorded a steal and scored on a jumper on the other end to give Briar Cliff a 12-9 lead midway through the quarter. The Defenders responded with a 14-0 run to take a 23-12 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Chargers scoring drought ended two minutes into the second quarter, as
Konnor Sudmann went two-for-two from the free throw line as they trailed 25-14. The Defenders came out with a full court press and were able to run in transition to extend their lead to 20 with 1:47 remaining in the half. The Defenders took a 50-28 lead heading into intermission.

The Chargers cut the lead down to 18 late in the third quarter, following a jumper from
Cadence Davis. The Cliff looked to find momentum late in the contest, as they trailed 85-69 following a pair of free throws from
Kennedy Benne.

In the effort,
Konnor Sudmann scored a game-high 28 points while going seven-for-15 from the field and a perfect 13-for-13 from the charity stripe. She also led the team in rebounds with eight. Off the bench, Davis added 10 points while knocking down two threes in the contest.

The Chargers move to 12-6 (7-5 GPAC) and will return to Ray Nacke Court this weekend and play a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. They face the Lancers of Mount Marty on Saturday and the Broncos of Hastings on Sunday. Both contests will tip-off at 2 p.m.
