The Charger men's basketball team dropped their road contest against the Defenders 113-83 in Sioux Center, Iowa Wednesday evening. The Cliff struggled to find stops in the first half, trailing by 19 heading into the second.

With 12:23 remaining in the first half, the Chargers and Defenders were knotted up at 20-20. The Cliff gave up a 13-4 run and found themselves trailing 33-24 with 7:12 remaining in the half.
Jamison Helmers knocked down two threes to cut the lead to five in the ensuing possessions. The Defenders Lucas Lorenzen responded with a trey of his own to push the lead back to eight.

With 11:27 remaining in the second half,
Blake Sindelar knocked down a pair of free throws and the Chargers trailed 83-68. Briar Cliff was unable to make up ground, as the Defenders shot 67% from the field on the evening.

Matthew Stilwill paced the Chargers with 20 points and went seven-for-11 from the field and knocked down a pair of threes. Sindelar and Helmers both added 14 points on the evening.
Quinn Vesey chipped in 12 points and shot 50% from the field.

The Cliff move to 10-9 (4-7 GPAC), and will return to Ray Nacke Court for a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. The Chargers will take on the Lancers of Mount Marty on Saturday and the Broncos of Hastings on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on both days.
