The #10 women's basketball team's late rally fell short as the Jamestown Jimmies took a 73-68 victory inside the Newman Flanagan Center Wednesday evening.
Kennedy Benne scored 23 points and went seven-for-11 from the field and buried three triples in the game.

The Jimmies got off to a fast start in quarter number one, taking a 25-12 victory heading into the second. The Jimmies led by 16 heading into halftime. With 5:36 remaining in the third, the Chargers gained momentum in the game following
Konnor Sudmann grabbing a defensive board and dishing it to
Payton Slaughter who scored on a layup on the other end. The Chargers trailed by eight heading into the final frame after a basket from
Rachel Langel on an assist from
Cadence Davis.

Opening in the fourth, the Chargers cut the lead to 53-47 following a bucket from Benne off an assist from Sudmann. The Jimmies pushed the lead back to nine following a three from Kate Cordes. With 3:30 remaining in the quarter, Benne sank two free throws and the Chargers trailed by four. Sudmann sank two free throws with 13 seconds left and Briar Cliff found themselves down by three with 13 seconds. After an intentional foul, the Jimmies Kia Tower sank two free throws to put the lead back to five. Sudmann followed up with a quick basket, but the Jimmies Megan Oswald iced the game at the line and the Chargers fell 73-68.

Mallie McNair chipped in 16 points followed by Slaughter's 13 points and seven rebounds. Sudmann added eight points and grabbed five boards. The Chargers struggled from the field, only shooting 37%.

The Chargers move to 12-4 on the season (7-3 GPAC) and will look to rebound next Saturday as they take on the Bulldogs of Concordia in Seward, Nebraska. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
