The Briar Cliff men's soccer team took the field in Orange City, Iowa Saturday and earned their second GPAC win of the season. Andrew Buchanan scored two goals for the Chargers, as he led them to a 4-1 win.
Buchanan scored the first goal just three minutes into the game. Mick Beinhauer received the pass as the Chargers raced up the field, and played the ball past the defenders to Buchanan, who found the back of the net.
Nearing 10 minutes after the first goal, Buchanan scored again for his 5th goal of the season. The Chargers punched a deep ball from their back line, and Pablo Garcia-Pola Coppen chased it down to the corner. Coppen crossed it to the front of the net and found Buchanan who punched in his second goal of the contest.
Just before half, Jasper van der Molen took a corner kick, and found Alex Johnson who scored the third BC goal of the half.
In the second period, the Chargers tacked on an early insurance goal from Nicolas Karlsen. Hugo Mariage stole the ball from the Raiders after a throw in, and tapped a quick pass to Karlsen who found the corner of the net for the final BC goal.
Raiders were awarded four corner kicks and put 12 shots on goal. They would get their first and only goal of the day at the 58-minute mark.
Buchanan led the Chargers with four shots on goal, while Hugo Mariage and Nicolas Aanensen Karlsen had two shots each on goal.
Nilsson Hjalmar ended the game with 9 saves.
Briar Cliff will host their next match against Dakota Wesleyan. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Memorial Field.
