Hjalmar Nilsson's second outing with the Briar Cliff men's soccer team, the freshman goalkeeper made 12 saves to lead the Blue and Gold to a 3-1 win over Bellevue.
"We had to battle today and I'm proud of the way our midfield and defense performed," said head coach Teren Schuster. "Hjalmar made a few key saves in big moments to keep us in the game and Hugo had a moment of real quality on the counter to put us ahead in the match. We didn't play our best, but we found a way to win which is a great quality to have as a team. We look forward now to another difficult test on the road Wednesday."
The Bruins tested Nilsson early on with four shots on goal in the first 20 minutes, but the BC goalie made all four saves. The Chargers struck first in the contest at 25-minute mark. After the Chargers were awarded a corner kick,

The Bruins netted an equalizer in the 40th minute off the foot of Fletcher Hedge, and two teams were tied at 1-1 at half.
The Bruins took the first three shots of the second half, but it was the Chargers who broke the tie.
Hugo Mariage beat the keeper high to net the game winning goal in the 58th minute, his first of the season. Just three minutes later,
Andrew Buchanan collected a bobble by the Bruin keeper and put away his second goal of the season to put the Cliff up 3-1.
The Chargers stayed on the offensive, taking five shots, with two on goal over the next five minutes. While BC was unable to connect on a fourth goal, Nilsson continued his strong play in net with five saves over the final 20 minutes to preserve the 3-1 win.
Four Chargers put shots on net with Buchanan leading the way with two.
