The Briar Cliff indoor track and field teams competed in the Concordia (Neb.) University Classic on Friday in Seward, Nebraska.
Hope Wagner won the women's shot put and four Chargers finish in the top-five.
Hope Wagner continues to dominate the women's shot put event as she hit the NAIA 'A' Standard once again and took first place with a throw of 13.91m (45.64ft). Wagner recorded a personal best for the second straight meet and moved to first in the GPAC.
Isabel Sayler, the lone Charger in the women's triple jump, posted a personal best jump of 10.86m (35.63ft), good enough for fourth place in the event. Sayler has placed in the top-five in this event in every indoor meet this season. She also took 19th in the long jump with a jump of 4.74m (15.55ft).
Robert Amaro, coming off back-to-back wins in the 600m event, took fifth with a time of 1:26.26. Amaro also has placed in the top-five of this event in all indoor meets this year.
Jalen Cook was the other Charger to run in the 600m, finishing eighth with a time of 1:28.10.
Dominic Archer, a sprinter for the Chargers, placed third in the 60m dash with a time of 6.99, marking his first time under seven seconds this season. He also took 10th in the 200m dash with a time of 23.09.
His teammate,
Joshua Miller, also ran in the 60m dash, placing sixth with a time of 7.05. Miller ran with Archer again in the 200m, placing 12th with a time of 23.23.
Osiel Ochoa was the other Charger to compete in the 200m as he finished 14th, charting a time of 23.29.
Ochoa was the only Charger to compete in the 400m dash, taking seventh place with a time of 52.09.
Carter Matthews is the last Charger to finish in the top-10, taking eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:02.72.
"Another personal best from
Hope Wagner moves her past the girl she was tied with for the conference lead", said assistant coach Chandler Cork. "Some more movement in the sprints with
Joshua Miller stepping up and taking sixth in the 60m dash while
Dominic Archer took third. We're still seeing lots of improvement by many athletes, meaning we're headed in the right direction! We're getting close to the conference meet, so we should see even more improvements in the next couple weeks."
The Chargers will return to action next Saturday, February 11, as they head back to Yankton, South Dakota to compete in the Mount Marty Last Chance Meet.
