The Briar Cliff indoor track and field teams competed in the GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon in Seward, Nebraska. Five Chargers finish in the top-ten.

"Overall, it was not what we were looking for", said head coach Scott Barnes. "We left many points out there that we should have been able to score, but with the very young team, we take it as a learning experience and get better for the outdoor season.

Dominic Archer both has season-bests which was a very bright light for this meet and moving forward."

Dominic Archer was the highlight for the Chargers as he placed third and earned all-conference honors in the 60m dash with a personal-best time of 6.87. Archer, already qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 2-3 in Brookings, South Dakota, hit the NAIA 'A' Standard solidifying his spot at nationals. Archer hit the NAIA 'B' Standard at the Chargers' last meet with a time of 6.91. Archer also competed in the 200m dash where he finished 11th with a time of 22.65.

Isabel Sayler was the highest placer for the women as she took fifth and earned all-conference honors in the triple jump with a mark of 10.87m (35.66ft). Sayler has placed in the top-five in the triple jump event at six of the seven meets she has participated in and has one win this season. Sayler tied her personal-best of 10.87m she posted at the Concordia Early Bird in December.

Hope Wagner entered the GPAC Championships ranked second in the NAIA and first in the GPAC. Wagner placed sixth and earned all-confernece honors for the second straight year with a throw of 13.33m (43.73ft). Wagner posted a personal-best throw of 14.19m (46.56ft) at the Mount Marty Last Chance. Wagner automatically qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships with an NAIA 'A' Standard throw of 13.90m (45.60ft) at the SDSU DII Invite in January.

Robert Amaro, coming off a win in the 800-meter run in the Chargers' last meet, placed eighth and earned all-conference honors in the 800-meter event with a time of 2:01.52. Amaro also competed in the 600-meter run where he placed eighth and earned all-conference honors with a time of 1:24.48. Amaro finished his season with four total wins.

Coming off a win at the Mount Marty Last Chance, the men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Osiel Ochoa, Amaro,
Joshua Miller and Archer placed fifth in the GPAC with a time of 3:28.81. Ochoa wasn't done for the day as he also competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing 14th with a time of 52.75, while teammate
Jalen Cook took 11th in the event with a time of 51.83.
