The Briar Cliff women's basketball team coasted to a 76-56 win over Mount Marty in the Newman Flanagan Center on Wednesday evening.
Madelyn Deitchler led the way with 19 points and
Payton Slaughter recorded a double-double.

In the first 10 minutes, the Charger defense forced six turnovers, but had five of their own in a very up-tempo contest. The Cliff opened the quarter on a 10-2 run with Konner Suddman and Slaughter knocking down back-to-back treys. The Chargers shot an even 50.0% from 3-point range as they netted 3-of-6 attempts, helping them to an eight-point lead.

The Chargers stayed consistent offensively in the second quarter, knocking down 7-of-16 shot attempts.
Josie Condon kept the momentum for the Blue and Gold as she converted two and-one layups in just over one minute. The Chargers scored 10-of-19 points in the paint while holding the Lancers to four points. Mount Marty chipped away at the lead making it 36-30 in favor of BC at the halftime break.

The Cliff came out firing in the third quarter, outscoring the Lancers 25-12 thanks to a 13-3 scoring run midway through the quarter. Briar Cliff shared the ball well as they tallied seven assists while the Charger defense forced another six turnovers, giving all the momentum to BC.

Briar Cliff kept the defensive pressure on in the fourth quarter allowing 14 Lancer points. The Chargers held Mount Marty to a 23.1 shooting percentage in the final 10 minutes, erasing any comeback attempt from the Lancers. BC went on to complete their 13th conference win of the season 76-56.

As a team, the Chargers held the advantage in second chance points (14-6), points in the paint (28-8) and rebounds (40-27).

Madelyn Deitchler scored 19 points, gathered five rebounds and snagged three steals while
Payton Slaughter recorded a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Josie Condon added 11 points and four rebounds and
Konnor Sudmann recorded 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

The Chargers have a short trip across town as they travel to Morningside to take on the Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4.
