CHARGERS, FLAMES PLAY TO 0-0 DRAW

The Briar Cliff women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw Wednesday against College of Saint Mary on Caniglia Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Chargers had opportunities throughout the match but were held scoreless by the Flames keeper. The Chargers held the advantage in shots (15 to six) and shots on goal (10 to two).

In 90 minutes in net, the Charger goalie Jaime Rowlands turned away the only two shots she faced. The Flames keeper made 10 saves in the draw.

After a scoreless 45 minutes of play, the Chargers continued to press the CSM defense by putting three shots on goal in the first nine minutes of the second half but were unable to convert. Both of Rowlands saves came in the second half, including a late stop in the 80th minute.

Hannah Shuttleworth and Gemma White peppered the goal with 10 total shots combined. White put four shots on frame, while Shuttleworth had three.

Briar Cliff was awarded five corner kicks and limited the Flames to just one. It was a relatively clean match with one yellow card and five total fouls.

The Chargers have now held opponents scoreless in four games and have played to a 0-0 draw twice. Rowlands has been in net for all four of the Charger shutouts.

Briar Cliff moves to 4-3-3 (3-2-2 GPAC) on the season. The Blue and Gold return to Faber Field on Saturday for a meeting with Waldorf at 3:30 p.m.
