CHARGERS EARN SHARE OF GPAC TITLE, PUNCH TICKET TO NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The Briar Cliff University men's soccer team clinched a share of the GPAC regular-season title after their home win against Midland Wednesday afternoon. The Cliff also punched their ticket to the NAIA National Tournament. The Chargers improved to 11-2-2 (8-0-2 GPAC) on the season.

"I am incredibly proud of the boys," said Head Coach Teren Schuster. "Midland came here and made it difficult, but we dug in and got the result that we deserved to win the GPAC."

The Chargers spent most of the first half on the attacking side, recording six shots. Midland's Marco Moresco recorded 3 saves, all in the first 45 minutes.

BCU broke the tie in the 60th minute, Magnus Ammundsen dribbled up the right side and sent a cross to Nicolas Karlsen who found the back of the net and gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead.

The Chargers recorded eight shots with four on goal, and held the advantage on corner kicks (14-2) in the match.

Briar Cliff's Herman Toftevåg, Daniel Ehlin, Finlay Skilling, and Pablo Garcia-Pola Coppen limited the Warriors to one shot in the contest.

The Chargers will travel to Jamestown, North Dakota, on Saturday, for the GPAC regular-season finale. Kickoff is designated for 1 p.m.
