The Briar Cliff golf team competed in their final tune up before the conference championships Saturday at the Red Raider Cup. The Chargers competed against seven other GPAC schools at the Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa.
 
"The men started off slow on a very cold and windy day," said assistant coach Erik Jan Ingenluijff. "We didn't take advantage of the scoreable par 5's on the course and made too many mistakes on the tougher holes. All our focus is now on the conference championship."
 
Andrew Arndorfer was the top placer for the Cliff at 28th overall. Arndorfer finished with a score of 73 (+2) and had three birdies on the day. Shaunak Rama posted a 74 (+3) and tied for 30th. Rama had two birdies on his round, both on par 5's. 
 
Elijah Lamoureux tied for 30th with a 74 and had two birdies. Mason Collins tied for 43rd with a 75 (+4) and tallied two birdies. Desmond Landin was the fifth member of the Charger squad and had a 76 (+5) to tie for 50th.
 
Davess Verdugo led the Charger 'B' team with a 76 (+5) and tied for 50th. Braxton Brockhaus posted a 79 (+8) to tie for 68th. Gregorio Fernandez tied for 72nd with an 80 (+9) and Gunnar Bussinger had an 86 (+15).

Morningside won the Red Raider Cup with a team score of 272 (-12), and Iowa Western's Thomas Craig was the top individual at -6. 
 
The Chargers are back on the course next Friday and Saturday for the spring portion of the GPAC Championships. BC enters the third round of the tournament in a tie for second with Midland.
