Ben Peters and CaRon Watson represented the Briar Cliff wrestling team at the NAIA Wrestling National Tournament in Wichita, Kansas Friday. 
 
Peters received in the opening round bye in the 149-lb. bracket and faced Dallas Koelzer (Baker) in his first bout of the day. Peters dominated the matchup winning by 17-2 tech fall. Koelzer recorded his only two points with a takedown :34 seconds in. Peters would takedown Koelzer a minute later and record to nearfalls in the final minute of the first period to go up 11-2. In the second period, Peters ended the match with a takedown followed by another nearfall to move onto the Sweet 16. 
 
Peters drew the #3 seed Brevin Balmeceda (Life) in the Sweet 16, falling 17-7 and moved to the consolation bracket. Peters bowed out in his first consolation match, dropping a 14-11 decision to Steven Weathers (Missouri Baptist). Peters jumped out to an 8-3 advantage after the first period, recording two takedowns and one nearfall. He led 8-6 after the second period and was outscored 8-3 in the final period. 
 
Watson drew the #1 seed in the 125-lb. bracket to open his tournament, falling by 18-1 tech fall to Esco Walker (Grand View). In the consolation bracket Watson faced Trevor Marsman (Cornerstone). Watson secured the first points of the match with a takedown, but Marsman took control with a nearfall at the end of the first period. Watson was outscored 10-1 in the final two periods, falling 16-5 and ending his tournament run.
 
"The guys wrestled hard today but things didn't go in our favor," said head coach Joe Privitere. "We will work hard and have a different outcome next year."
