The Charger men's golf team moved up one spot in the final round of the Shawnee Shootout Tuesday to finish third. The Cliff ended with a team score of 949 (315, 319, 315) and tied with Weatherford for the lowest team score of the day.
"Mason bounced back today and had the low round of the day," said head coach
Ben Irlbeck. "Our guys know how to battle in the wind, so they were able to play steady and post the team low round of the day. We now have a nice break between now and our next event."
Southwestern Christian and Weatherford tied for first with a score of 929. The Chargers were just five strokes off the third-place team Southwestern Christian's 'B' Team.
Mason Collins made the largest leap on the leaderboard for the Cliff, moving up 18 spots to tie for 26th. After rolling in three birdies in his final four holes yesterday, Collins sunk two in his first three holes today. He finished with a three-round score of 241 (87, 77, 77).
Shaunak Rama carded a 240 (79, 84, 77) and moved up 16 places to finish 25th. Rama posted his best round of the tournament today and played his front nine at two-over par.
Andrew Andorfer was the top individual placer for the Cliff, tying for 17th with a 237 (78, 77, 82).
Elijah Lamoureux tied for 22nd with a 239 (78, 81, 80). Arndorfer and Lamoureux rolled in three and two birdies, respectively.
Desmond Landin tied for 42nd and improved by seven strokes from his second-round score. He finished with a 249 (80, 88, 81).
Gregorio Fernandez tied for 46th with a 251 (92, 83, 86).
Davess Verdugo (83, 89, 85) and
Braxton Brockhaus (84, 82, 91) tied for 60th with 257's.
The Chargers will be in action next at the Iowa Central Invite in Fort Dodge, Iowa on April 9-10.
