Box Score 2 The Charger softball team split Saturday's doubleheader with Sterling in Sterling, Kansas. Briar Cliff took game one 13-3 in five innings, while their late rally in game two fell just short 5-7.

Josie Chronic tallied five hits, three RBIs and three runs on the day.Â
Kylee Lukes went 4-for-8 and scored four runs with one RBI.

Game One – W, 13-3

Brooke Masi was hit by pitch in the first at bat of the game and advanced to third base after a wild pitch and a
Josie Chronic ground out.
Kylee Lukes drove in Masi with a single to left field, and Lukes would later score on an error by the left fielder.
Kennedy Andersen would drive in the third run of the inning with a left field single.Â

With runners on second and third, Lukes would reach base via error by the third basemen, scoring
Karina Cupples. The Chargers would score two more runs in the inning off Sterling errors.Â

The Warriors would score two in the bottom of the second inning, but the Chargers responded in top of the third with two more runs, highlighted by a RBI triple from Chronic.Â

The Chargers would reach 10 runs in the fifth inning as Chronic drove in two more runs with a single to center field. After loading the bases, pinch hitter
Aubrey Chichurka cleared the bases with a double to go up 13-3.
Kayla Guerrero closed out game one with a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth.

Georgia Krohn took the mound first for the Chargers and earned the win.
Mackenna Raby pitched 2.1 innings in relief, giving up just three hits with one strikeout.

Chronic and Chichurka each recorded an extra base hit and tallied three RBIs apiece.
Brooke Masi, Cupples and Lukes each stole one base.

Game two – L, 5-7
Â
Despite having runners in scoring positions in each of the first four innings, the Chargers were unable to cross home plate as they fell behind 6-0. With two outs in the fifth, Lukes tripled and scored after
Alexis Westercamp doubled to left field. Krohn followed with a double of her own, scoring Westercamp. Â

The Warriors added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth off an Aiyana Campos home run.Â

In the top of the seventh, the Charger rally began with Chronic reaching first via error, followed by a Lukes single. Chronic would later score on a passed ball to make the score 7-3. Cupples drove in Westercamp with a single, and
Callie Billings scored on a passed ball and the Chargers trailed 5-7 with two outs. With runners on second and third,
Hunter Pitts was called out at first after a dropped third strike, ending the Charger rally.Â

Morgan Jones is tagged with the loss and gave up five runs (two earned) in three innings.Â

Allie Olivarria pitched a complete game, surrendering 10 hits and five runs (two earned).Â
