The Briar Cliff women's basketball team forced 28 turnovers in the team's 86-53 win over Saint Mary's Saturday. The Chargers scored 39 points off turnovers as they improved to 6-3 (3-2) on the season.

Kennedy Benne led the Cliff in scoring, tallying 18 points while going 6-for-14 from the field with two 3-pointers, three assists and seven steals.

Payton Slaughter got going quickly in the first quarter for the Cliff, with the backcourt scoring 16 of the team's 20 first quarter points. The Chargers led after the first quarter 20-11, giving up just one offensive rebound and forcing six turnovers.

Konnor Sudmann scored the first four points in the second quarter, hitting a jumper and knocking in a pair of free throws for Briar Cliff. The Chargers took their largest lead of the half, 39-25, after
Peyton Wingert found Benne for the 3-pointer.

Briar Cliff had six steals in the first 20 minutes, 13 points off turnovers, and shot 50% FG converting on 13 of their 26 attempts.

The Chargers increased their pressure in the second half, forcing nine turnovers in the third quarter alone. The Cliff outscored the Flames on three pointers alone in the quarter, knocking down four of them. Briar Cliff extended their lead to 63-38 after three quarters.

The Chargers never looked back, scoring 23 fourth quarter points. Briar Cliff reeled in 13 offensive rebounds, forced 28 turnovers and tallied 20 steals. The Chargers held the edge in points off turnovers 39-11.

Slaughter finished with 17 points, shooting 7-for-13 with six rebounds and four steals.
Konnor Sudmann finished with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks. Wingert added 11 points and four boards.

The Chargers will face Morningside Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in the Newman Flanagan Center.
