CHARGERS DROP SENIOR DAY GAME TO CONCORDIA

The Briar Cliff football team fell in their Senior Day matchup, 10-45 to Concordia at Memorial Field. The Chargers honored six seniors Saturday in their final home game of the 2022 season.

"We got out coached and outplayed today in all three phase phases," said head coach Shane LaDage. "I appreciate how hard the men in our program play. I thought MJ Montgomery, Lakey Martin and Brett Tinker stood out defensively while Kobe Johnson and Matthew Mason did on offense. We will regroup and do everything possible to finish the season on a high note next week in Crete, Nebraska."

The Chargers dialed up a reverse to Tim Brown on the second play of the game, who was on his way to a big gain of over 40-yards until he fumbled and was recovered by the Bulldogs. Concordia took advantage of the turnover with a touchdown drive.

BC's offense moved into Bulldog territory in their second drive but stalled just outside of the redzone. Jonathan Branner closed out the drive by connecting on a 44-yard field goal.

Briar Cliff's lone touchdown drive was a seven play, 67-yard drive in the second quarter. Luke Davies found senior Kobe Johnson for a 32-yard touchdown and the Cliff trailed 10-14. Following the BC touchdown, the Bulldogs would score 24 unanswered points.

Davies completed 12-of-25 for 121 yards and one touchdown. Johnny Bauser completed one pass for 31 yards. Aaron Okoro caught three passes for 47 yards, while Spencer George had four catches for 33 yards. Eight Chargers caught a pass in the contest.

Matthew Mason led the Charger backs with 57 rushing yards on six carries. Asante Anglin rushed eight times for 27 yards.

Brett Tinker had 14 tackles (eight solo) and Tim McCarthy had 10 tackles. BC had 5.0 tackles for a loss, and MJ Montgomery tallied one sack.

Briar Cliff will close out the season next Saturday against Doane in Crete, Nebraska. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. between the Chargers and Tigers.
