Briar Cliff football dropped a 17-3 contest against Doane Saturday at Memorial Field. The Chargers battled through four quarters of play but were unable to convert at crucial moments of the game.

Luke Davies and deep threat
Aaron Okoro was displayed in the fourth quarter of today's game. Okoro caught five passes from Davies for 102 yards, including a 23-yard gain on fourth and nine from the Chargers 36-yard line. Two plays later the duo connected again, this time gaining 32 yards to put the Cliff in Tiger territory. Facing fourth and one late in the fourth quarter, Davies targeted Okoro again, this time completing a 33-yard play to get the Chargers in the redzone.
In his second game under center for the Cliff, Davies completed 18 passes for 217 yards.
Damarreon Nelson hauled in three passes for 37 yards and
Tim Brown added 34 receiving yards.

Jonathan Branner set a new program record with his 54-yard field goal conversion as time expired in the first half.
Asi Tupua led the Chargers defense with six tackles and one sack.
Carlos Alvarez recorded six tackles and forced one fumble. Freshman defensive back
Ahkil Muhammad tallied four solo tackles and recovered one fumble, returning it for 67 yards.
Brett Tinker and
Kreggor Clark also recovered fumbles for the Cliff.
"I appreciate how hard our team competed for four quarters," said head coach
Shane LaDage. "Turnovers and missed opportunities in the red zone on offense turned out to be the turning point of the game. Credit to Doane, they are a quality opponent who deserved to win the game."
The Tigers found success in the run game, rushing for 196 yards on 46 attempts. Frazzie Wynn gained 78 yards on the ground in his 18 rushes, scoring one touchdown. Adam Wasserman added 66 yards on 10 carries. Zach Witters completed 10 of 17 passes for 101 yards, with one touchdown to Izaiah Celestin.
Briar Cliff football heads to Seward, Nebraska next Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff with the Concordia Bulldogs.
