Three goals in the first half lifted the Charger men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday at Faber Field.

Luis Paulo Sartor gave the Cliff the lead early, putting home a goal off a free kick in the third minute of action. In the 41st minute, a Sartor corner kick bounced off multiple players before
Alpha Faye put it in the back of the net to give BC a 2-0 lead. Sartor tallied his second goal just a minute later, this time putting away a penalty kick.

Sebastian Justiniano led the team with four shots on goal apiece. Sartor added three shots on goal and eight other Chargers had one shot on goal.

Leandro Faria recorded the shutout for the Cliff, making three saves in his 90 minutes. The Charger defense limited the Tigers to just four shots on the day.

"It was a positive response. The most important thing in the GPAC is to get a result," said head coach
Clark Charlestin. "Everyone understood their roles tonight and we look forward to having more moments and games like this."

Briar Cliff recorded 30 shots in the contest, with 19 being on target. BC also held the advantage in corner kicks 8-1.Â

Barry Dretibbetts had a team high two shots for the Tigers. Hunter Birozy allowed three goals and made 12 saves for Dakota Wesleyan.

The Blue and Gold improve to 3-1 in GPAC play and hold a 5-5 overall record. The Chargers will head to Yankton, South Dakota on Sunday for a matchup with Mount Marty.Â
