Despite holding a 14-8 shot advantage over Northwestern, the BC men's team fell 2-0 to the Red Raiders Saturday evening's GPAC soccer matchup in Orange City, Iowa.
Both Northwestern goals came in the first half of action, the first by Juan Mackrey in the 16th minute and the second by Niklas Fitter in the 31st minute.
The Chargers took the first four shots of the game but only put one on goal. Northwestern's first shot resulted in a 1-0 lead for the Red Raiders.
Northwestern did have a chance to go up 3-0 on a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining in the first half but BC goalkeeper Leandro Faria made the save.
Faria made three saves in his 90 minutes in goal for the Chargers.
Danny Baca, Vinicius Ribeiro and Sebastian Justiniano had three shots each for the Cliff. All three of Ribeiro's shots were on frame.
The game features 12 total cards, including a red card (two yellows) for Ribeiro.
The Chargers move to 2-1 in GPAC play. They will return to Faber Field to host Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon.
