The Briar Cliff baseball split today's series with Jamestown. The Jimmies took game one 6-5 in extra innings and the Chargers bounced back in game two with a 6-3 win. 
 
Connor Lange drove in the first run of the game in the second inning with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Darnell Prince. The Cliff added another run on the next at-bat as Denton Porter scored Jared Sitzmann with his single to right-center. Jamestown responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead and added another run in the fifth. 
 
The Chargers tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth, thanks to RBIs from Prince and Jake Allen. Jake Federico's single to right in the top of the seventh would score the go-ahead run, with the Cliff leading 5-4. A home run from Jamestown's Grant Okawa in the bottom of the inning would send the game to extra innings. 
 
BC had a chance in the top of the ninth, with bases loaded and two outs but the Jimmies were able to escape without giving up a run. Brice Foster hit a walk off single to right-center to close out the 6-5 Jimmie win.
 
Jacob Wesselman got the start, going 6.0 innings allowing four runs (two earned), six hits and he struck out seven batters. Sitzmann and Allen led the Cliff with two hits apiece. Cyler Melvin and Harrison Jestel each reached base twice on walks.
 
In game two, the score was tied 2-2 through four innings of play. In the top of the fifth, with runners on first and second, Allen blasted a three-run home run over the right field fence to put the Cliff up 5-2. The Chargers added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, off the bat of Allen, this time a solo homer over right field. 
 
The Jimmies first two batters reached base to start the bottom of the seventh. Ryan Pearson retired the next three, to close out the 6-3 Charger victory.
 
"That was a really gutsy win after an emotional loss in game one," said head coach Corby McGlauflin. "That was a tough environment to play in and a good team. I am proud of the way our guys battled back in game two."
 
Dalen Blair takes the win with his 6.0 innings of work, striking out eight while allowing three runs. Pearson picked up the save for the Cliff with one strikeout. Allen went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs. Melvin and Sitzmann both tallied two hits.
 
BC moves to 22-7 on the season and 6-4 in GPAC play. The Chargers travel to Fremont, Nebraska Saturday for a doubleheader against Midland.
