Briar Cliff wrestling competed in the Younes Hospitality Open Saturday on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. 
 
Andrew Shea had the Chargers best placing in the elite bracket at sixth place. After dropping his first match by a 5-2 decision against Air Force's Garrett Bowers, Shea wrestled back to the fifth-place match. In his second-round consolation match Shea won by a 7-5 decision against Robert Woodcock of Air Force. Shea then won by fall in his next three matches against opponents from Hastings, Doane and Baker. 
 
In the amateur bracket, Gabriel Howard and Alton Allen took fourth place at 133 and 285-pounds, respectively. Ashton Brecht also finished sixth at 285-lbs.
 
 Howard won by major decision 14-6 over Kagen Lawrence from Colorado school of Mines and got a 6-4 decision over Western Wyoming's Derek Ramos. He fell in the quarterfinal match to Northern Colorado's Dyson Kunz and wrestled back to the third-place match where he lost 4-0 to Nebraska-Kearney's Daniel DeRosier.
 
 Alton Allen advanced to the semifinal round after winning by fall over Charles Houb from Colorado School of Mines and two straight decisions over wrestlers from Nebraska-Kearney and Western Wyoming. He fell in the semifinal round to Minot State's Jake Swirple and advanced to the third-place match by no contest. He narrowly lost the final match 5-3 to Anthony Atria. 
 
Ashton Brecht won by fall over Hunter Scott of Newman and York's Marce Vasquez on his way to a sixth-place finish.

The Chargers are back in action on December 1st at the GPAC Duals hosted at The Arena Academy in Sioux City, Iowa. BC opens the duals against Midland at 5:30 p.m. and will face Doane at 7:00.
