Box Score After more than 10 days without a game, the Briar Cliff women's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory over Doane Wednesday at Faber Field. Ariana Rodriguez tallied her first career hat trick in the win and the Charger defense earned its third shutout of the season.
Rodriguez's first score game just seven minutes into the match.
Bailee Hackley played a corner kick in and found the head of Rodriguez inside the six-yard box. The score remained 1-0 until the 40th minute when
Mariana Ocegueda played a ball across the face of Doane's goal and
Flor Suarez found the back of the next for her sixth score of the season.Â
Â
Rodriguez put away her second goal of the contest in the 55th minute off a free kick just outside the 18-yard box and her final goal in the 74th minute, assisted by Suarez.
Taylor Hill and
Kenna Larosee both added a second-half goal as well.  Â
Â
"Despite being 2-0 up at halftime, I wasn't overly happy with our first-half display," said head coach
Paul Cox. "The second half was a different story. We picked up the energy and knocked it around really well. We still have a lot of work to do defensively but to cap another game off with a bucketful of goals was really encouraging."
The Cliff put up 17 shots in the game with 11 on frame, compared to four shots by Doane with two on goal. Individually, Rodriguez led the Chargers with five shots. Hill and
Sonja Rao added three shots each.Â
Â
Charger goalkeepers
Ruby Campa and
Darrien Sclafani combined for two saves for the Blue and Gold. Dani Schreiber made five saves for Doane.Â
BC moves to 3-0-1 on the season and 3-0 in GPAC play while Doane slips to 0-4-1 and 0-2-1 in the conference.
Briar Cliff will be off Saturday due to a postponement at the request of Hastings. The team will host College of Saint Mary next Wednesday at Faber Field.
