Box Score The Briar Cliff women's soccer team took down Dakota Wesleyan 2-0 Saturday in Mitchell, South Dakota. The Charger defense was dominant again today picking up their eighth shutout this season.
"It was great to get the three points and a clean sheet against one of the best offensive teams in the league," said head coach
Paul Cox. "Dakota Wesleyan is a tough place to play and with 20 mph winds it gets even tougher."
After a scoreless first half
Taylor Hill got the Chargers on the board in the 67th minute, assisted by
Flor Suarez. In the 79th minute the Cliff picked up an insurance goal this time from
Hannah Shuttleworth, assisted by Suarez.
"We were resilient in the second half and we knew the window in which we could score and we did exactly that," noted Cox.
BC outshot the Tigers 16-6 and had a 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. Suarez led all players with five shots on goal. Ariana Rodriguez and
Mariana Ocegueda added three shots apiece.
Ruby Campa made three saves in her 90 minute shutout.
Josephine Bardsley had two shot attempts for Dakota Wesleyan. Hannah Bowes was in net for the first half making two saves and allowing zero goals. Alissa Betz made seven saves, allowing two goals in the second 45 minutes.
The Chargers have a week off before they travel to Concordia Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against the Bulldogs.
