BC suffers first loss

Box Score Charger women's soccer suffered its first loss of the 2020 season Saturday with a 1-0 loss at Concordia. An unfortunate hand ball called late in the second half resulted in a penalty in favor of the Bulldogs.

The sides battled to a 0-0 halftime score thanks in part to a key save by Ruby Campa in the 20th minute to keep the game even. The hand ball call came with seven minutes to play and was converted by Mikeila Martinez to give the Bulldogs the win.

Despite the loss the Chargers are still in the running for a GPAC title. With one loss and one draw, the team is 8-1-1 while conference leader Morningside is 9-1-1. Concordia moves to
9-2-1 in GPAC play.

The teams were evenly matched on the stat sheet with the Bulldogs taking one more shot, 10-9 and having a 6-2 edge in shots on frame. Ariana Rodriguez led the Chargers with three total shots. Campa made five saves.

The Chargers have two games left to play in the 2020 regular season. BC will travel to Hastings Wednesday evening before hosting Morningside next weekend.
