Briar Cliff University recently held its annual NAIA Champions of Character Awards Banquet. Champions of Character demonstrate five core character values, respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship. The banquet recognizes members of the Briar Cliff community who have displayed each of these values in Briar Cliff athletics.
The Student Fan Award is given to individuals whose school spirit stood out among the rest of the Charger student section. Jason Wesselmann (Remsen, IA) received the Male Student Fan Award, while Rose Crimmins (Fort Dodge, IA) was honored with the Female Student Fan Award. The Adult Fan Award was given to Dave Arens, BCU's Director of Campus Life. The 2009-2010 Male Athlete Award went to Jeremy Schindler (Hinton, IA) for displaying character on the football field. The Female Athlete Award went to Sam Bock (Allen, NE) for being a champion of character on the volleyball court.
The banquet also provides Briar Cliff with the opportunity to recognize all of the achievements of its student-athletes throughout the past year.
