Lauren Boatman

Lauren Boatman was named head coach of the Briar Cliff women’s volleyball program in the spring of 2025.

In her first season at the Cliff, she helped the Charger volleyball team reach a 10-17 record, the most wins since 2021.

A Sioux City native, Boatman joins the Chargers after five standout seasons as head coach at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School, where she led the Crusaders to the 2024 Iowa Class 4A State Championship with a 44–3 record. Her success earned her multiple honors, including 2024 Iowa Class 4A Coach of the Year, 2024 Western Iowa Class 4A District Coach of the Year, 2024 CYO Volleyball Coach of the Year, 2024-25 Overall Coach of the Year, and 2021 CYO Volleyball Coach of the Year.

Boatman brings elite playing experience, having been a four-year letter winner at the University of Iowa from 2013–17. She finished her Hawkeye career with 1,087 kills, ranking 15th all-time in program history, appeared in 125 matches with 104 starts, and led Iowa in kills in each of her final three seasons.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in sport studies from Iowa and has strong ties to Briar Cliff, as her mother, Deborah, was a two-sport Charger athlete in volleyball and basketball.

Outside of volleyball, Boatman enjoys spending time with her husband, Bo, and their two sons, Finn and Tate.
